Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II, today on Tuesday at the Husseiniya Palace, met members of the Jordanian Press Association Council, and discussed a number of local and regional issues.
His Majesty confirmed the important role of the union in enhancing media professionalism, and the necessity that national interest guides political and media discourse, especially in the context of the rapidly events in the region and the world.
He spoke about the importance of continuing major projects, attracting more investments, and improving services, which contributes to enhancing the lives of citizens and increasing economic growth rates.
His Majesty pointed out that Jordan is utilizing its outstanding relations with friendly countries to attract investment and economic opportunities and to open new markets for Jordanian products, including countries in East Asia.
Regarding developments related to Iran, His Majesty emphasized that dialogue and political solutions are the way to spare the region further escalation.
His Majesty stressed that Jordan will not allow its airspace to be breached and will not be a battlefield, noting that the security of the kingdom and the safety of its citizens are above all considerations.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, His Majesty confirmed the continuation of work with brothers and international partners to protect the rights of the Palestinians and to stop the Israeli measures that aim to change the status quo in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
His Majesty also highlighted the need to support Syria's efforts in maintaining its security, stability, and sovereignty.
For their part, the president of the Press Association and council members appreciated His Majesty's efforts in defending Arab causes, especially the Palestinian cause, confirming the importance of the Jordanian role in regional files and its effective presence in preserving national interests.
The attendees provided explanations about the union’s procedures and its efforts to develop journalistic work and organize the profession while maintaining professional standards.
They emphasized the need to develop Jordanian media tools to be able to keep up with technological progress, and they referred to the role of responsible media in spreading the truth, debunking rumors, and enhancing the Jordanian narrative.
The meeting was attended by the chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Youssef Hassan Al-Issawi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, and the director of His Majesty’s office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh.
