US officials Huckabee comments on Jordan are a personal viewpoint

Khaberni - Politico reported, citing informed sources, that US officials clarified that the statements of the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, reflect his personal views and do not represent a change in the US administration policy.

Politico added, according to Khaberni, that senior officials in President Donald Trump's administration had made contacts with several Arab countries to alleviate their concerns after Huckabee's statements regarding Israel's right to control a large part of the Middle East.

Huckabee's statements, in which he said he sees no reason Israel shouldn't take over the entire Middle East region, sparked widespread anger across the Arab and Muslim communities. These comments were made during an interview conducted with American media personality Tucker Carlson, before he later retracted them, describing them as "hyperbolic."

Huckabee is known for previous statements that have caused controversy, for years repeating the claim "there is no such thing as a Palestinian," and has openly suggested establishing the Palestinian state elsewhere, like in Jordan or parts of Sinai, arguing that "there is plenty of Arab and Islamic land, while there is only one small Israel."
