Kims sister enhances her influence in North Koreas leadership

Khaberni - North Korean state media announced on Tuesday the promotion of Kim Yo Jong, the sister of leader Kim Jong Un, to the position of department director in the ruling Workers' Party during the ongoing party conference.
The Korean Central News Agency released a statement from the first general meeting of the ninth Central Committee, in which her appointment as one of 17 new department directors was announced, after she had previously served as a deputy department director.

The meeting was held yesterday as part of the conference that began last Thursday to review the achievements of 2021 policies and to formulate goals for the next five years.

The meeting also witnessed the unanimous reelection of leader Kim Jong Un as the General Secretary of the party during the ninth conference, with a focus on strengthening nuclear and military capabilities.

Additionally, Choe Ryong Hae, the head of North Korea's parliament and a former prominent military figure, was dismissed from the membership of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers’ Party, in a move that reflects a broad generational shift in the leadership hierarchy.

The meeting, which was the first in five years, set new goals for the next five years, including reviewing the achievements of 2021 and boosting economic and defensive development despite challenges.
