The Albanian President visits historical landmarks in Petra

Khaberni - The Albanian President Bajram Begaj visited the archaeological city of Petra on Monday, as part of his official visit to the kingdom, accompanied by the First Lady Armanda Begaj.

Upon his arrival at the archaeological site, President Begaj was received by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Adnan Al-Sawa'irah, accompanied by the Commissioner of Conservation and Tourism, Yazan Mahadin.

Begaj was briefed on the most prominent historical landmarks in the rose-red city, and, accompanied by his delegation, listened to explanations about the history of Petra, its cultural and humanitarian importance, considering it as one of the new seven wonders of the world and one of the top tourist destinations globally.

The Albanian President toured through the Siq and the Treasury and several other prominent landmarks, expressing his admiration for the unique historical heritage of Petra that reflects the beauty of the Nabataean civilization, and praising the efforts made to preserve this global heritage site and maintain it for future generations.

The visit comes as part of efforts to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of cultural tourism as a bridge for communication between peoples and enhancing mutual understanding, and reflecting the global status that Petra holds on the international tourism map.
