AlRiyati and AlNamour Reject Licensing Drinking Establishments in Aqaba

Khaberni - MP Hassan Al-Riyati and MP Dr. Lubna Al-Namour announced their unequivocal rejection of licensing any new shop for selling alcoholic beverages in Aqaba Governorate, demanding the cancellation of the license that was recently granted in a location they said affects the sanctity of the place and time.

The deputies affirmed that alcohol is prohibited by religious law, and that Islam is the religion of the state according to the Constitution, considering that granting the license constitutes a violation of the sanctity of Al-Sharif Al-Hussein Bin Ali Mosque and its surroundings, impacting the community peace and values of the people of Aqaba and its conservative identity.

They pointed out that the decision represents a provocation to the citizens' feelings, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, confirming their rejection of what they described as imposing projects that conflict with the religion, social values, and the security of the local community.

The deputies demanded the immediate cancellation of the license, prohibiting any activity that contradicts the Sharia and violates the sanctity of the houses of God, emphasizing the need to preserve the identity and authenticity of Aqaba.
