Khaberni - Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, president of Amman Ahliyya University, visited Mr. Omar Al-Barzanji, the Iraqi Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in his embassy office in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
During the meeting, Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan expressed his pleasure about the visit, emphasizing the deep fraternal relations linking the two brotherly countries. He noted that Iraqi students at Amman Ahliyya University constitute a significant and distinguished presence among the university students, due to their seriousness, commitment, and academic excellence. He affirmed the university's commitment to providing a supportive and stimulating educational environment that contributes to enhancing their scientific and academic journey.
The university president also reviewed the advanced academic status achieved by the university at the regional and international levels, as it ranked within the (761–770) category globally in the QS World University Rankings for 2026, and within the (401–500) category globally in the Times Higher Education Rankings for 2026, in addition to being the first private university in Jordan.
On his part, Ambassador Al-Barzanji praised the prestigious academic level the university had reached, appreciating the efforts of its administration in improving the educational process and enhancing its presence in global rankings. He also confirmed the embassy's keenness to follow up on the affairs of the Iraqi students studying at Jordanian universities, especially at Amman Ahliyya University.
He expressed pride in the level of Iraqi students studying in the kingdom, promising to visit the university soon to deliver an academic lecture, meet with Iraqi students there, and learn about their conditions and needs.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Dr. Hamdan presented a plaque from Amman Ahliyya University to His Excellency the Ambassador, in appreciation of his efforts in enhancing bilateral relations and his continuous support for the Iraqi community in the kingdom.
