Jordanian Iftaa Zakat alFitr 25 kg of wheat valued at 180 piasters

Khaberni - The Council of Iftaa, Research, and Islamic Studies announced in its second session of the year 2026, about determining the value of Zakat al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH.

The Council decided that the amount of Zakat for each individual is one Saa' of the most common food in the country, equivalent to 2.5 kg of wheat, or 180 piasters in cash, mentioning that those who wish to increase, will gain reward and good deeds from Allah Almighty.

The Council emphasized that Zakat al-Fitr is a mandatory religious duty that must be paid by the Muslim for himself, his dependents including spouse and young children, for children born before sunset on the last day of Ramadan, and for impoverished parents, and it can be given starting from the beginning of Ramadan, but it is best given before the Eid al-Fitr prayer.

The Council pointed out that Zakat represents a purification for the fasting person and sustenance for the needy, urging Muslims to comply with its payment willingly and to treat the poor kindly and lovingly.

The Council also determined the value of the food ransom for the needy for those unable to fast due to old age or chronic illness at one dinar per day.
