Khaberni - Ibrahim Ridaei, spokesman for Iran's Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said that the talks scheduled next Thursday between Tehran and Washington represent a "real test" for President Trump.
Ridaei confirmed that the discussions on Thursday will decide, to quote, "whether American soldiers will go to hell or return to America."
Ridaei added in a post on his X platform account that "the results of this round of negotiations will be decisive for the direction of confrontation or de-escalation between the two sides," in reference to tying the fate of American forces in the region to the outcomes of the upcoming negotiations.
This comes at a time when delegations are preparing to resume a new round of discussions about the Iranian nuclear program, widely seen as one of the last opportunities to avoid an open military confrontation.
Meanwhile, the American military buildup is escalating in the Middle East, as the United States has strengthened its naval and air presence in the region by deploying the "Abraham Lincoln" carrier group near the Gulf and sending a second carrier, the "Gerald Ford", on its way to be positioned near the Mediterranean, in addition to bolstering squadrons of fighter jets and long-range bombers, putting them on alert in case of potential strikes targeting nuclear facilities and headquarters for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and ballistic missile platforms.
