Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Albanian President Bajram Begaj held talks at the Husseiniya Palace on Sunday, focusing on ways to expand cooperation and enhance the friendship between Jordan and Albania.
During the talks, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and the First Lady Armanda Begaj, His Majesty emphasized that this visit was an opportunity to continue enhancing relations between the two countries, as last year witnessed exchanges of visits and coordination that resulted in the Aqaba meetings being held in Albania.
His Majesty congratulated the Albanian people on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, which reminds of the common values between the two countries, and the bilateral efforts to promote harmony and dialogue.
Discussing the conditions in the region, His Majesty the King expressed his appreciation for Albania’s support for efforts to restore stability and achieve peace based on the two-state solution.
The two leaders, in the presence of His Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King’s chief advisor for religious and cultural affairs and his personal envoy, confirmed that dialogue and peaceful solutions are the only way to achieve regional calming and solve conflicts.
In this context, His Majesty emphasized the necessity to respect the sovereignty of states, their unity, and the integrity of their territories and the protection of their peoples’ resources.
For his part, the Albanian President confirmed that his visit to the Kingdom would enhance partnerships in the investment, security, tourism, and development sectors, pointing to the great potentials for strengthening economic cooperation.
The President noted that his visit to the Kingdom included a number of religious and tourist sites, highlighting the need to enhance relations between the peoples and promote exchange visits through the establishment of a direct flight line between the two countries.
President Begaj expressed his country's commitment to working towards deepening stability and prosperity in the region and the world, praising His Majesty the King’s leadership role in achieving stability, and appreciating his efforts for peace in the region through the two-state solution.
The talks covered the overall situation in the region, where His Majesty stressed the necessity of intensifying international efforts to stop illegal actions aimed at entrenching settlements and imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank, warning of the dangers of continued assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
His Majesty renewed the call for full commitment to implementing the agreement to end the war in Gaza, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas there.
The talks were attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the Director of His Majesty’s Office Engineer Alaa Batayneh, the Minister of Health Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badour, the head of the honorary mission accompanying the guest, and the non-resident Jordanian Ambassador to Albania Zuhair Al-Nsour, and the Albanian Ambassador to Jordan Sami Shiba.
