Minister of Public Works Field challenges delayed the completion of Wadi Shueib road maintenance

Khaberni - The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Al-Samn, inspected on Sunday the progress of the rehabilitation and maintenance project of Wadi Shueib road, observing the efforts exerted to address the significant damages and collapses caused by the recent weather conditions that affected the region.

During his tour that extended from Mahis Bridge to the area of Wadi Shueib dam in the Southern Shuna, the minister explained that the pace of work faced field challenges which led to delays in completion compared to what had been planned, due to unforeseen mountainous collapse sites and cracks that were not evident during the initial road closure, requiring emergency engineering interventions and the development of technical solutions to ensure the stability of the slopes and protect the road body from possible future landslides.

Abu Al-Samn emphasized during his meeting with the working staff the necessity of balancing between the speed of implementation and the highest standards of public safety, indicating that the current works were not limited to addressing the collapses only, but also included the widening of strategic sections of the road to enhance its traffic efficiency, implementing new culverts for rainwater drainage to ensure water drainage efficiency and protect the road from erosion and mud deposits, in addition to continuing the construction of protective berms at calculated heights to block potentially falling rocks.

It is noted that the Public Safety Committee in Balqa Governorate, in coordination with the Public Security Directorate, decided last January to close the road precautiously to maintain public safety.
