Khaberni - The archives of Dubai courts contain strange cases, among them a lawsuit that revolved around an uncalculated adventure undertaken by three European youths of Arab descent, when they decided to steal a car driven by a family’s chauffeur.
The incident, despite being committed in a primitive way, involved a type of challenge which consisted in the absence of evidence or witnesses. The search for the car continued until it was found in a sandy area after the accused had set it on fire.
When the victimized driver was questioned, he did not provide many details, as the accused were speaking in a language he did not recognize. However, he mentioned one crucial piece of information that caught the attention of an astute investigator: they were repeating a word typical of a certain nationality. This turned out to be the key to the case, as surveillance cameras were tracked and three youths were spotted. Their identities and locations were determined, they were arrested, they confessed to committing the crime as an adventure, and they were referred to the public prosecution, and thence to the criminal court which punished them with imprisonment, fines, and deportation.
