8 Years of Simeone at the Top of the Worlds Most Expensive Coaches

Khaberni -  Argentine coach Diego Simeone has maintained his position at the top of the world's most expensive coaches for the eighth consecutive year.

The Atletico Madrid coach continued to top the list of highest coaching salaries, which have seen enormous leaps since 2000, reflecting the major transformation in the industry of the game.

At the beginning of the millennium, Scottish Sir Alex Ferguson led the list from 2000 to 2004, with his salary gradually rising from 7 to 9 million euros annually.

In 2005, Portuguese Jose Mourinho took the lead, maintaining his position until 2012, with his salary rising during that period from 10 to 15.5 million euros.

Starting from 2013, Spanish Pep Guardiola became the highest paid until 2017, with his salary increasing from 17 to 23 million euros annually.

However, the biggest leap came with Argentine Diego Simeone, who has topped the list since 2018. His salary reached 30 million euros, then increased to 40 million in 2020 and 2021, before dropping after the coronavirus pandemic to 34 million, and then to about 30 million euros in the latest estimates for 2026.
