Khaberni - Ehab Qadri, representative of the textile sector in the Jordan Chamber of Industry, said on Saturday that the sector's exports exceeded $2 billion last year, noting that the official statistics have not yet been issued.
Qadri explained that more than 75% of the exports go to the United States, according to the kingdom.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced an increase in the new comprehensive customs tariff from 10 to 15% "with immediate effect," after the Supreme Court the previous day nullified much of the tariffs imposed since his return to the presidency.
Trump stated on his social platform Truth Social that after a comprehensive review of the court's decision, which he described as "very un-American," he decided to raise import duties "to the fully allowed level, which has been legally tested, at 15%."
