Khaberni - Jordanian officials stated that the US military presence in Jordan is part of defense agreements between the United States and Jordan, according to the New York Times.
The newspaper reported a Jordanian official confirming that Jordan will not use its territory to launch an attack on Iran, adding that Jordan hopes the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran will lead to a political agreement that will spare the region from war.
It explained that other countries, such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE, supported the negotiations to avoid war and reach a diplomatic solution, affirming their unwillingness to use their territories as a launching point for any military action against Tehran.
It indicated that the US military has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East, and the US Central Command has kept two aircraft carriers in the Middle East.
