Syrian Interior Ministry issues executive instructions for the decree of natralization of the Kurds

Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Interior issued a decision yesterday, Friday, containing instructions related to the implementation of the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 13, which stipulates the naturalization of Kurds deprived of Syrian nationality, who are covered by its provisions.

The ministry confirmed -on its platform on Telegram- that the decision is in line with the constitutional principles that ensure the protection of citizenship rights, equality, and the consolidation of social stability and national integration.

The decision included the mechanism and conditions for applying, where those wishing to obtain nationality can apply individually or with their family.

The ministry designated centers for this purpose in 5 provinces: Damascus, Aleppo, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Hasakah.

On January 16th, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar', issued Presidential Decree No. 13, which includes recognizing the cultural and linguistic rights of Kurds in Syria.

On January 28th, the Syrian Ministry of Interior requested from the General Directorate of Civil Affairs to prepare the necessary procedures to implement the decree issued by President Al-Shar' about two weeks ago, granting nationality to citizens of Kurdish origin.

It is noted that on February 2nd, in the capital Damascus, the Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Sheibani received a delegation from the Kurdish National Council headed by Mohammed Ismail.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the meeting emphasized the unity and integrity of Syrian territory, and rejected any projects or proposals that affect the country's sovereignty or threaten its unity, noting that Al-Sheibani affirmed the state's commitment to the rights of Kurdish citizens and the principle of equal citizenship, ensuring the preservation of their cultural and social particularities within the framework of the unified Syrian state.

For its part, the council's delegation welcomed Presidential Decree No. 13 concerning the rights of Syria's Kurds, considering it an important step towards their justice and guaranteeing their rights, and enhancing national participation in shaping the future of the country.
