Khaberni - US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he directed the Pentagon and other government agencies to identify and publish files related to aliens and unidentified flying objects due to "tremendous interest" in them.
Trump made this announcement in a social media post hours after accusing former President Barack Obama of leaking "classified information" when Obama recently mentioned in a podcast interview that aliens are real.
Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, "I don't know if they're real or not," and added about Obama "I might bail him out by declassifying," and in a post on his social media platform last Thursday night, Trump said he directs government agencies to release files related to "extraterrestrial life and beings from beyond Earth, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), unidentified flying objects (UFO), and all other information related to these highly complex, exciting, and extremely important matters at the same time."
Obama, who made his comments during a podcast appearance last weekend, later clarified that he had not seen evidence that aliens "had contacted us," but said, "Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there's life out there."
Trump told reporters on Thursday regarding the possibility of extraterrestrial visitors, "I have no opinion on it, I never talk about it, many people do, many people believe it."
However, Lara Trump, Trump's son's wife, hinted this week that he is ready to discuss the matter when she said in a podcast that the president has a speech prepared about aliens and that he will deliver it at "the right time."
That was news to the White House, where spokeswoman Caroline Levitt laughed when asked about it on Wednesday and told reporters, "A speech about aliens would be news to me."
