Khaberni - The General Mufti of the Kingdom, Dr. Ahmad Al-Hassanat, revealed that the Department of Fatwa will issue next week the value of Zakat al-Fitr that an individual should pay during the holy month of Ramadan, after it used to be announced after the first half of Ramadan.
Al-Hassanat stated in televised statements to the kingdom last Thursday evening that the amount of Zakat al-Fitr is a decision of the Fatwa Council, based on wheat prices, as the reward for charity in Ramadan is multiplied, pointing out that the more needy and close to the charity spender a person is, the more deserving they are than others.
He explained that over the past two years, the people of Gaza were the most in need, and therefore most of the Zakat issued in Jordan was directed to the people of the sector.
He pointed out that those who are closest in kinship and residence are most deserving of the charity, affirming that if every family or every neighborhood collected their wealth's Zakat and gave it to their poor, there would be no poor left in Jordan.
