Khaberni - With the major transformations witnessed in the usage of telecommunications and digital world services in Jordan and the increased reliance on these tools in daily, social, and work life, official data confirmed that Jordanians consumed 6.6 billion gigabytes during the first nine months of last year, representing a record value compared to previous years.
According to official data released by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, internet traffic during the first nine months of last year increased by 11%, compared to the same period of the previous year when internet traffic nearly reached 5.9 billion gigabits, according to Al-Ghad.
This increase is in line with the expansion of digital transformation processes in various sectors, people's reliance on the "web" for their work and lives, and the increased use of smartphones, computers of all kinds, and their applications.
The recently issued data from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority showed that with reaching this level of internet consumption during the same period, it increased by 700 million gigabytes.
According to the authority's data, fixed broadband wired internet (using fiber and ADSL technologies) accounted for the majority of internet consumption during the first nine months of last year, when it recorded about 4.5 billion gigabytes, constituting 68% of the total internet consumption by Jordanians during the same period.
The data indicated that the consumption of mobile broadband internet (like third, fourth, and fifth generation technologies) recorded during the first nine months of last year, nearly 2.1 billion gigabytes, constituting 32% of the total.
