Healthy Suhoor Foods that provide the fasting person with energy for long hours

Khaberni - With the fasting hours extending between 13 to 15 hours in Ramadan, Suhoor transforms from being a Prophetic Sunnah, which the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, encouraged with "Take Suhoor, for in Suhoor there is blessing", into a crucial meal that provides the body with the ability to endure without feeling hungry, tired, or thirsty.

Nutritional studies indicate that legumes and proteins are slowly absorbed in the body; this makes their effect last for long hours.

Beans, known to Egyptians as "belly nail," lead the foods that reduce the feeling of hunger due to their content of fibers and complex proteins that take about 4 to 5 hours to be fully digested; this gives the fasting individual a feeling of fullness until noon.

Nutrition expert Hisham Wasfi mentioned, in special statements to "Erem News", that lettuce, arugula, and cucumber are rich in fibers that absorb water and release it gradually in the body; this reduces the intensity of thirst during the last hours before Iftar.

Wasfi added that boiled eggs and white cheeses low in salt stabilize the hunger hormone "ghrelin"; this gives the fasting person a feeling of fullness for a longer period compared to easily digested carbohydrates.

Experts recommend eating foods rich in potassium, such as bananas and dates, which help regulate salts in the body; this reduces the feeling of thirst resulting from salty foods.

Yogurt contains natural fermentations that help prevent acidity and facilitate the digestion process for a more active fasting experience without stomach discomfort.

Wasfi warned against excessive consumption of high-sugar or high-carbohydrate foods, such as white bread and sweets, as they are quickly digested and raise blood sugar levels then drop suddenly, leading to the fasting individual feeling tired and hungry early on.
