Ways to Take Thyroid Medication During Ramadan

Khaberni - Some thyroid patients can fast safely, especially when not suffering from another chronic disease, but attention must be paid to the quality of food and medication timing.

Dr. Khaled Al-Nimr, a cardiology consultant and catheterization specialist, explained that the timing of taking medications during Ramadan can make a significant difference in their impact on humans and the benefits the body obtains.

Dr. Khaled Al-Nimr revealed that thyroid patients need to follow one of the following methods to safely get through Ramadan: taking dates and water first, then taking the pill and waiting for 30 minutes, or before suhoor after fasting for at least 3 hours.

The easier option is to take thyroid medication 3 hours after iftar, then wait half an hour before eating.
