Khaberni - Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh congratulated the general manager of Al-Yazouri Group and Al-Yazouri Scientific Publishing, publisher Ahmed Al-Yazouri, on his winning the position of Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Publishers Union.
Al-Rawashdeh also congratulated publisher Salah Al-Tilawi for winning a seat on the board of the Publishers Union during the meeting held on Wednesday in his office.
Publisher Jafar Mahmoud also retained his seat on the board for the current term, representing the Jordanian Publishers Union, raising the number of Jordanian representatives in the council to three members, as in the previous term.
Al-Rawashdeh emphasized that this victory reflects the effective presence of the Jordanian book industry in the Arab cultural scene, and embodies confidence in Jordan's knowledge product and its competitive efficiency. He pointed out that the publishing sector is one of the most important cultural and creative industries that contribute to supporting the national economy and enhancing knowledge-based industries.
He noted that the book industry plays a pivotal role in enriching Arab cultural content, especially in the digital space, and in enhancing the economics of knowledge, noting that maintaining these seats represents a qualitative achievement that is added to the record of the Jordanian publisher and enhances its status at the Arab level.
It should be noted that the elections were held in Cairo on the sidelines of the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, with the participation of 29 candidates from 11 Arab countries, competing for 16 seats, while the number of members of the general assembly present was 337.
