Khaberni - The Spanish Football Federation punished Matias Almeyda, the coach of Sevilla, with a 7-match suspension on Wednesday.
Almeyda was sent off late in his team's home match against Deportivo Alaves, which ended in a 1-1 draw in the La Liga competition on Saturday, after the Argentine coach clashed with the refereeing team.
The Spanish Federation's Disciplinary Committee stated that the suspension includes 3 matches for disrespecting the refereeing team, 2 matches due to a complaint lodged by the referees, 1 match for not leaving the field immediately after his sending off, and another for misconduct and disregard for public order.
Almeyda did not leave the field immediately after receiving a red card, as he continued to ask the referee about the reason for his dismissal, and the technical director apologized after the match regarding these incidents, but remained questioning why he was sent off.
Sevilla Football Club considered the punishment harsh and stated it would appeal against it.
