Khaberni - Worshipers, on Wednesday, performed Tarawih prayers in various mosques across Jordan, following the announcement that Thursday is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs unveiled its comprehensive plan for the holy month of Ramadan, which includes a religious, scientific, and media program, alongside a wide range of initiatives implemented by the Zakat Fund.
The plan, which was reviewed by the Council of Ministers on Sunday, aligns with the ministry's religious and national message to promote values of solidarity and mercy, to reinforce the scientific and religious role of the kingdom during the holy month, and to serve worshippers in Jordan.
The plan includes holding the Hashemite scientific councils under the Royal Patronage, every Friday during the holy month in the grand conference hall of the Islamic Cultural Center at the Martyr King Founder Mosque in Abdali, with participation from a selection of scholars from within the kingdom and abroad.
This year, the Hashemite councils will discuss topics: "The Holy Quran, the primary and strongest source of evidence" and "The Prophetic Sunnah, the secondary source for clarification and explanation" and "The Consensus, a safety valve against falling into misguidance" and "Ijtihad as a basis of flexibility in Islamic Law."
The ministry’s plan also includes organizing the 33rd Hashemite International Competition for males, with participation from 60 countries, as well as broadcasting the final round of the local Hashemite competition for females, featuring 167 contestants, on Jordan Television during the holy month. The award ceremony for the winners will be held on the 27th and 28th nights of Ramadan and will be broadcast live on Jordan Television and the Holy Quran Radio.
In terms of religious and media activities, the ministry has allocated daily programs for live broadcast from major mosques, including sessions at sunset and pre-dawn, prayers of Isha and Tarawih, and religious lessons from the Al-Husseini Grand Mosque in Amman, broadcasted on the airwaves of the Jordanian Hashemite Kingdom Radio and the Holy Quran Radio, in addition to live television coverage from King Hussein bin Talal Mosque and the Martyr King Founder Mosque.
