Google Announces Extension of Submarine Cables from India

Khaberni - Google announced on Wednesday the construction of submarine cables from India to enhance the capabilities of the world's most populous country in the field of artificial intelligence, during a global summit on this technology held in New Delhi.

The American giant indicated that "3 marine lines will connect India to Singapore, South Africa, and Australia" and that "4 fiber optic lines will enhance the existing networks between the United States, India, and other areas in the Southern Hemisphere."

This project is part of a significant investment announced by Google in October, valued at 15 billion dollars, which includes establishing the largest data center for the group outside the United States in Visakhapatnam (southeast India).

Alphabet's CEO, Sundar Pichai, in front of a crowd of journalists in New Delhi, said, "India is on an impressive path in the field of artificial intelligence, and we want to join as partners."

He affirmed that the country, home to about 1.5 billion people, "holds a prominent position" in the ongoing technological revolution.

Google pointed out that "in a country with more than a billion inhabitants, they will strengthen the resilience of the Indian electronic network and improve its economic security."
