The Permanent Representative of Jordan to the United Nations, Ambassador Walid Obeidat, previously confirmed that the formation of the Peace Council and the Palestinian National Committee for the Management of Gaza, as transitional bodies established by Security Council Resolution 2803, should lead to establishing a permanent ceasefire, preventing displacement and annexation, a full withdrawal of Israel from the sector, supporting the reconstruction of Gaza, and moving towards a political horizon leading to the independence of the Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The head of the National Committee for the Management of Gaza, Ali Shaath, previously stated that the Peace Council meeting scheduled to take place in Washington on February 19 aims to affirm the necessary commitments for financing relief and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.

He explained that the committee has received commitments for necessary financing for relief, recovery, and reconstruction, confirming that meetings were held with the European Union, the United Nations, and Arab countries to discuss supporting the sector.
