Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II and the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier held talks on Wednesday, focusing on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and the most prominent developments in the region.
During the talks, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the First Lady Elke Büdenbender, and His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, His Majesty the King welcomed the German President, pointing out that this visit was an opportunity to exchange important views on the regional developments.
In extended talks attended by officials from both countries, His Majesty highlighted the strong political relations between the two countries, as well as defense cooperation, expressing pride in the level of economic relations and partnership in vocational and technical training to empower youth.
His Majesty the King expressed the Kingdom’s keenness to expand cooperation with Germany within the framework of the European Union, through the comprehensive partnership and strategic agreement.
On his part, the German President stressed his commitment over the years to exchange views with His Majesty the King on various issues, especially the situations in the region.
The German President highlighted the important role of Jordan in consolidating stability in the region, praising His Majesty the King’s wisdom and his interest in humanitarian issues and support for refugees, despite the burdens involved.
President Steinmeier pointed out that his visit to the Kingdom focuses on cooperation in scientific and academic fields between the two countries, in addition to the business sector.
During the talks, His Majesty expressed Jordan’s anticipation for active German participation in the Jordanian-European investment conference, which Jordan will host next April, to enhance the Jordanian-German partnership in business and investment.
Speaking of regional developments, His Majesty emphasized the importance of Germany's efforts to restore stability, reaffirming the Kingdom's continued close work with Germany in this regard, to ensure the dignity of all peoples in the region is respected.
His Majesty the King stressed the need for international action to stop the escalation in the West Bank, reaffirming Jordan’s absolute rejection of the Israeli decisions aimed at taking control of the lands and expanding settlements.
His Majesty also warned of the dangers of ongoing violations of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem, which represent a blatant violation of the existing historical and legal situation.
His Majesty the King appreciated Germany’s support for sustaining the ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the need to adhere to the agreement to end the war and ensure the delivery of relief aid.
His Majesty noted the necessity to support efforts for Syria’s reconstruction and to maintain its security, stability, and sovereignty.
The meeting was attended by the Director of His Majesty the King's Office, Alaa Batayneh, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Ya'rab Al-Qudah, Head of the Honorary Mission accompanying the guest, Jordanian Ambassador to Germany Fayez Khouri, and the German Ambassador to Jordan Bertram von Moltke.
