Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality announced, on Wednesday evening, the suspension of the vehicle violation inquiry and payment service for two hours from 6 PM today until 8 PM to implement a decision of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Greater Amman Municipality confirmed on Wednesday the implementation of the Cabinet’s decision granting a 30% discount on the amount of traffic penalties due before February 17, 2026, for those who pay the penalties due within 60 days.
A source in the municipality told the Kingdom channel that the relevant teams have started applying the 30% government-granted discount on the total value of the fines, provided they are paid within 60 days, since this morning.
The source explained that the discount would gradually appear on the violations, emphasizing the municipality's commitment to expedite procedures as quickly as possible, enabling citizens to benefit from the decision within the specified period.
The Traffic Management Director at the Public Security Directorate, Brigadier General Raed Al-Assaf, stated that the Cabinet's decision to offer a discount on traffic violations stems from a commitment to enhancing road safety and encouraging vehicle owners to renew their vehicle licenses within the legal period.
Al-Assaf clarified that renewing the license ensures that vehicles are subjected to technical inspection and verified for readiness and suitability for road use, directly contributing to reducing traffic accidents, injuries, fatalities, and material losses, thereby improving traffic safety levels across the kingdom.
