Khaberni - U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright stressed on Wednesday that the United States will prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon "one way or another," during ongoing talks between the parties to reach an agreement.
Wright said on the sidelines of meetings for the International Energy Agency that the Iranians "are clear about what they will do with nuclear weapons. This is absolutely unacceptable."
The Iranian President Masoud Bazshkian affirmed his country's readiness to allow "verification" that it is not seeking to develop nuclear weapons, in statements published Tuesday as Tehran held talks with Washington in Geneva.
In remarks published by the presidential website, Bazshkian said: "We are not seeking to possess nuclear weapons at all," adding "if anyone wants to verify that, we are ready for such verification measures to take place."
The United States, Israel, and European countries accuse Iran of seeking to develop a nuclear weapon, which it denies.
