Khaberni - The Director of Traffic in the Public Security Directorate, Brigadier General Raed Al-Assaf, said on Wednesday that the Cabinet's decision to offer a discount on traffic violations stems from a commitment to enhancing traffic safety and encouraging vehicle owners to renew their vehicle licenses within the legal time frame.
Al-Assaf explained that renewing the license ensures that vehicles are subjected to technical inspection and assures their readiness and fitness for driving on roads, which directly contributes to reducing traffic accidents, injuries, deaths, and financial losses, thus increasing the level of traffic safety across various regions of the kingdom, according to Al-Mamlaka.
Al-Assaf indicated that the decision included a promotional discount of 30% on the total value of traffic violations accumulated before February 17, 2026, provided that the entire amount due is paid within a maximum period of 60 days.
He noted that this measure is intended to relieve citizens and motivate them to renew their vehicle licenses, which positively reflects on compliance with traffic laws and achieving a safer traffic environment.
This comes within the framework of the decision made by the Council of Ministers in its session held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, which aimed at granting discounts on the values of traffic violations due from offenders before February 17, 2026, in order to encourage drivers to settle their obligations and renew their vehicle licenses within the legal deadlines.
