Khaberni - Faisal Al-Fayez, Chairman of the Senate, discussed in his office at the Senate House, on Wednesday, with the Spanish Ambassador to the Kingdom, Miguel de Lucas González, the bilateral relations between Jordan and Spain, and ways to enhance and develop them, in addition to the current situation in the region.
Al-Fayez praised the strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries, stating that it has reached advanced levels in coordination and cooperation on various issues of mutual interest, pointing out the importance of developing the bilateral relations in various economic, investment, and parliamentary fields, in addition to enhancing tourism and cultural cooperation.
He emphasized Jordan's commitment, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to build upon the relations of the two countries and to open broader prospects for cooperation and joint investments.
The Chairman of the Senate showcased the significant efforts made by His Majesty King Abdullah II, towards peace and stability in the region, and His Majesty's calls for the necessity of finding political horizons that end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, based on a two-state solution and in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
He called on the international community to push the Israeli occupation to comply with the implementation of all provisions of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and to enable sufficient humanitarian aid to enter the sector, appreciating Spain's supportive positions for His Majesty the King's efforts to achieve peace in the region.
The Spanish Ambassador, on his part, praised the depth and solidity of Spanish-Jordanian relations at all levels, affirming his country's commitment to elevate the bilateral relations to higher levels in various developmental, economic, trade, parliamentary, and cultural fields, serving the common interests of both countries and peoples, and contributing to the security and stability in the region.
He pointed out the importance of Jordan's pivotal role, expressing his country's appreciation for Jordan's steadfast positions under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to achieve peace in the region, stating that peace in the region can only be achieved through a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue.
