Former Egyptian Minister Falls Victim to Fraud

Khaberni - Former Minister of Youth and Sports of Egypt, Abdel Moneim Amara, was defrauded online after someone unknown seized money from his account.

Amara, one of Egypt's most famous former ministers, filed an official complaint with the investigative authorities accusing someone of defrauding him and seizing a monetary amount from his bank account after convincing him that he was a customer service employee at a well-known bank.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had contacted the former minister by phone, claiming he needed to update his banking information, which enabled him to seize money from his private account.

The investigations clarified that the accused had impersonated a customer service employee with the aim of fraud and deception, which led the victim to file an official report of the incident.

The security forces in Cairo continue their intensive efforts to apprehend the accused and present him to the public prosecutor’s office to complete the investigations, as part of efforts to combat electronic fraud and protect citizens from fraudulent attempts exploiting trust in banking institutions
