Khaberni - The next session of the trial of the detained Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in front of the American federal judiciary in New York, which was scheduled for March 17, has been postponed to the 26th of the same month.
The prosecution, with the agreement of Maduro's defense attorneys, requested the postponement of the session.
The judge in charge of the case consented to the request, which the prosecution referred to as "planning and logistical issues" without providing any clarification.
Maduro (63 years old) appeared for the first time before the American judiciary on January 5th, two days after his arrest during a U.S. military operation in Venezuela, and at that time he pleaded not guilty to charges related to drug trafficking, emphasizing that he is a "prisoner of war".
His wife Cilia Flores (69 years old) also pleaded not guilty alongside him.
Flores will appear with her husband before the court on March 26th.
Maduro ruled Venezuela with an iron fist from March 2013 until January 2026.
Currently, the presidency of the country is being handled by interim president Delcy Rodríguez, who has been serving as his deputy since 2018.
