Khaberni - President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, praised the government's initiative to settle the backlogged dues owed for years to printers tasked with printing books and educational curricula for the Ministry of Education, amounting to 30 million dinars, confirming that the actual implementation of this decision is a practical step to support the industrial sector and enhance trust between the government and the private sector.

Al-Jaghbeer affirmed that settling these dues at this time addresses a financial imbalance that had accumulated over years, and reinstates liquidity into facilities operating within the packaging and paper industries, which are directly linked to the educational process and at the same time are a fundamental pillar for a wide range of industrial activities.

He confirmed that the government’s payment of these dues enhances the stability of companies operating in this vital sector, enabling them to meet their financial obligations and to invest in modernization and expansion, which positively reflects on the added-value local production chains and strengthens the contribution of the national industry in supporting economic growth.

He explained that the packaging and paper industries achieve sales to the local market of about one billion dinars, with 88 percent of their products going to the local market, enabling them to cover 77 percent of the total consumption of the kingdom, while part of their products are primary inputs for multiple industrial sectors, in addition to being final products for consumers.

He noted that the sector's exports grew by 6 percent during the first ten months of last year, reaching approximately 119 million dinars compared with 112 million dinars for the same period in 2024, reflecting the sector’s ability to maintain its presence in foreign markets despite challenges.

He added that the sector comprises 812 facilities spread across various provinces of the kingdom, with capital amounting to 269 million dinars, and employs about 11,000 workers, 89 percent of whom are Jordanian labor, while the annual gross production volume reaches 1.14 billion dinars, accounting for 7 percent of the total production in the manufacturing industries.

Al-Jaghbeer clarified that the sector's exports reach 58 countries around the world, including Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, India, Iraq, and the United States, pointing out that there are untapped export opportunities estimated at about 81 million dollars in corrugated paper industries, cardboard boxes and crates, and printed books and booklets.
