Khaberni - A condolence event in Britain turned into a major crisis on social media, after a food invoice with an offensive description of the family appeared, an incident that sparked a wave of anger and questions about professionalism and respect for customer feelings.
The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reported that a grieving family rented the "Crossroads Café" for two hours for over 200 pounds to provide light meals and refreshments to about 30 people attended the condolence for their late father, aged 67.
But the atmosphere inside the venue, according to the family's account, was tense; attendees felt that the staff treated them as a burden, removing plates and cups before they were finished and dealing indifferently with the requests.
The biggest shock came the next day when Hannah - a family member - discovered that the group's name on the invoice included an offensive and rude description, which caused shock and intense anger, especially given the sadness the family was experiencing.
The crisis escalated
Following the incident, Hannah contacted one of the café's owners, who attributed the incident to another employee and considered it a "joke," before apologizing and refunding the full amount to the family.
However, the crisis did not stop there, as the family posted the story on social media, which sparked a wave of interaction and widespread criticism, especially after Hannah received a message containing personal insults from someone associated with the café.
Latterly, the other partner in managing the café issued a public apology, confirming an internal review and temporarily suspending the employee, with a request for a formal written apology from him.
Formal Apology
The café’s management confirmed that the incident was true, emphasizing that what happened does not reflect the values of the family project or the service standards they strive to maintain.
In contrast, the family considered that mocking their grief was a "cruel and inhumane act," as the incident exacerbated their psychological pain, demanding accountability for those responsible for this insult and not just accepting an apology.
