Khaberni - The Lebanese government announced on Monday a four-month extendable deadline for the army to implement the second phase of the disarmament plan for the party in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese Minister of Information Paul Marcus said in a press conference after a government session that the cabinet "took note of the army leadership's presentation of the monthly report on the plan to restrict weapons in all Lebanese areas in enforcement of the Council of Ministers’ decision" to disarm the party.
He continued, "If the same facilitating factors are available, there is a time period of four months extendable depending on the available capabilities, Israeli aggressions, and field obstacles."
The army had announced at the beginning of January, the completion of the first phase of the plan, which included the area south of the Litani River (approximately 30 km from the southern border with Israel).
The second phase of the plan includes the remaining areas of southern Lebanon located north of Litani
