Khaberni - Girona secured a thrilling and crazy win against Barcelona with a scoreline of (2-1), on Sunday evening, at Montilivi Stadium, in the twenty-fourth round of the 2025-2026 Spanish League season.
With this precious win, Girona provided a great service to Real Madrid who maintained the top position in the league table with 60 points, while Barcelona's tally froze at 58 points in the second place, and Girona increased their points to 29 rising to the twelfth position.
Moments before the end of the first half, precisely in the 2nd minute of added time, Barcelona was awarded a penalty following a strong intervention by the Dutch defender Daley Blind on Dani Olmo inside the penalty area.
Lamine Yamal stepped forward to take the kick, but his shot hit the left post of Gazzaniga's goal, missing a golden opportunity that would have provided Barcelona a significant psychological advantage before the break.
At the 59th minute, Barcelona finally managed to decipher Girona's defense, after the young defender Pau Cobarros capitalized on a well-placed cross from the Frenchman Jules Koundé, depositing it into the net, igniting the mood of the match.
However, the visitor's joy was short-lived; as in the 62nd minute, Frenchman Thomas Lemar equalized for Girona, after receiving a superb ground cross from Vladislav Vanat, driving the ball into the net, and reigniting the stands in a tumultuous three minutes that reset the game to square one.
In the 87th minute, Girona snatched the dramatic winning goal through Fran Beltran, who fired a powerful ground shot from the edge of the penalty area that settled in the net, announcing the hosts' lead in a crucial timing.
