Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II met British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in London today, Monday, with His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince in attendance.
During the meeting held at the British Government headquarters, His Majesty emphasized the depth of the Jordanian-British relations and the keenness to strengthen cooperation in various sectors, especially the economic, investment, and technological areas.
His Majesty highlighted the importance of enhancing joint efforts in the defense and military fields, serving mutual interests, and achieving regional stability, appreciating the United Kingdom hosting a new round of the Aqaba meetings tomorrow, Tuesday.
He also pointed to the pivotal role of Britain in working to end regional conflicts and achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
Discussing developments in the region, His Majesty reiterated Jordan's position rejecting Israeli actions aimed at entrenching settlements and imposing sovereignty over the West Bank.
Regarding Gaza, His Majesty stressed the need to ensure the implementation of the war termination agreement and the flow of relief assistance to all areas of the sector to alleviate the suffering of civilians.
During the meeting, His Majesty also emphasized the importance of supporting Syria's efforts to maintain its security, stability, and sovereignty.
On his part, the British Prime Minister affirmed the importance of the partnership between Jordan and the UK in working towards stability in the region, expressing his country's eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the Director of His Majesty’s Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Britain Manar Al-Dabbas.
