Khaberni - The last awareness workshop was concluded yesterday within a comprehensive campaign that targeted all schools of Amman Citadel, which was implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Celiac Disease Care Charity.
This comprehensive awareness campaign is implemented in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties, aimed at spreading awareness about celiac disease in the school community, and promoting a safe and healthy environment for students suffering from this disease.
The awareness workshops covered several main themes, including defining celiac disease, its symptoms, and its health complications, in addition to clarifying the fundamental difference between celiac disease and wheat allergies, which helps the educational staff to handle different cases correctly.
The workshops emphasized the importance of providing gluten-free food products in school canteens, especially in schools attended by students with celiac disease, to ensure they have access to safe and healthy food options during the school day, and to prevent them from experiencing any health complications that may arise from consuming foods containing gluten, which enhances their social integration and preserves their right to an inclusive and safe school environment.
The workshops also reviewed the role of the association in supporting and caring for those affected by celiac disease, and the services it provides to patients and their families, which contributes to improving their quality of life and better integrating them into the school environment.
This initiative represents an important step towards creating an educated and supportive educational environment for students with celiac disease, and enhancing the culture of health and prevention in schools.
