Khaberni - The national football team intends to hold an internal training camp during the upcoming international break at the end of March, which includes playing two friendly matches to prepare for the World Cup scheduled for June.
According to the information received, the Peru national team is the first opponent for the national team in its friendly match, after the two federations reached an agreement to play the match at the Amman International Stadium, awaiting an official confirmation from the football union soon, according to Al-Ghad.
The union is seeking to secure a second friendly match in the coming days, in order to prepare adequately for the World Cup, as it is communicating with several teams from different continents, but it is waiting to reach an agreement with one of those federations, with talk about previously contacting the Slovenian union.
The national team's technical director, Jamal Salami, faces several challenges in the coming period, most notably replacing striker Yazan Al-Naimat, who is likely to miss the World Cup due to injury, alongside defender Adham Al-Quraishi who has suffered the same injury with a cruciate ligament tear.
Also absent from the upcoming gathering is the top scorer of the national team from the current generation, Ali Alwan, due to an injury with his team Al-Sailiya in Qatar, and his absence from the fields for 3 months, without determining the possibility of his participation in the World Cup or not, making these points some of the major challenges that will face Salami in the upcoming stage, necessitating his presence in the kingdom recently, and monitoring several matches of the Professional League to find alternatives for them.
Last year, the national team participated in the Arab Cup in Qatar, and presented remarkable levels and results despite the absence of a number of professional players in East Asia and Europe, managing to finish second after losing to the Moroccan team in the final 2-3 after extra time.
“Al-Nashama” rely on a number of players who are professionals abroad in the upcoming period, one of the most prominent being Moussa Al-Tamari of the French team Rennes, who managed to attract attention to him this week, after scoring a goal against the European champion Paris Saint-Germain, leading his team to a 3-1 victory, and earning the man of the match award.
The national team currently holds the 64th position globally according to the latest international ranking issued by “FIFA” last month, while it is in Group 10 at the World Cup, alongside the Argentine team, the champion of the last edition, and the teams of Algeria and Austria.
The Peruvian team failed to qualify for the World Cup from the South American qualifiers, after finishing ninth and next to last in the qualifiers, by securing 12 points from 18 matches, noting that it occupies the 55th position globally, while it missed out on the last World Cup in Qatar, after participating in the 2018 edition, noting that it is also expected to face the African champion, the Senegal team, in the upcoming break as well.
