5 pharmacies transferred to State Security after violations related to narcotics

Khaberni - The Director General of the Food and Drug Administration, Rana Obeidat, revealed stringent oversight measures taken by the institution during the year 2025, including the closure of dozens of warehouses and pharmacies, and the transfer of some to the competent judicial authorities, among which five pharmacies were referred to the State Security Court due to violations related to narcotics or high-risk substances.

Obeidat explained, during her appearance on "Al-Mamlaka" hosted by the journalist Amer Al-Rajoub on Sunday, that the inspection campaigns conducted by the institution led to:

The closure of 82 warehouses and pharmacies

The transfer of 132 cases to the Attorney General

The referral of 5 pharmacies to the State Security Court

The issuance of 76 warnings and 25 notices

The transfer of 17 violations to the Disciplinary Council

Obeidat confirmed that the referral of the five pharmacies to the State Security Court was based on violations related to the handling of high-risk substances or narcotic drugs, which are types subject to strict control and can only be dispensed with original prescriptions.

She clarified that the violations do not necessarily indicate direct misuse, but they relate to non-compliance with precise tracking and matching procedures, such as discrepancies in quantities, broken boxes, expired drugs, and their non-compliance with the dispensed prescriptions, necessitating legal control to maintain community safety.

The Director General emphasized that the institution continues its oversight campaigns to ensure drug safety and to apply the highest standards of compliance, asserting that any transgression in dealing with restricted materials will face legal actions
