189 Million for Supporting the National Water Carrier by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development

Khaberni - On Sunday, the government signed the financing agreement for the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development's contribution to supporting the electrical power supply project for the national water carrier, with a value of 58 million Kuwaiti Dinars (equivalent to approximately $189 million US), within the framework of enhancing developmental cooperation between Jordan and the Arab Fund.

This occurred during the reception of Zayna Toukan, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, the Director General and the Chairman of the Board of the Fund, Fawzi Al-Huneif, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Finance Abdul-Hakim Al-Shibli, and the General Manager of the National Electricity Company, Sofyan Al-Batayneh.

Toukan expressed her appreciation for the partnership with the Arab Fund, mentioning that this agreement comes within the framework of the country partnership strategy between Jordan and the Fund for the years 2025-2029, to support developmental priorities in the fields of energy, water, economic and social development.

She added that the new financing will contribute to providing a safe and stable electrical supply for the facilities of the national water carrier project, and will enhance the national network's capacity to accommodate more electrical power including renewable energy.

On his part, Al-Huneif expressed his pride in the close relations with Jordan, affirming that the Fund considers the Kingdom a fundamental developmental partner in the region, expressing the Fund's ongoing readiness to support the Jordanian government's developmental efforts within the framework of the country partnership between Jordan and the Fund for the years 2025-2029.

On behalf of the Jordanian side, the agreement was signed by Minister of Finance Abdul-Hakim Al-Shibli, and the General Manager of the National Electricity Company Sofyan Al-Batayneh, while the General Director and the Chairman of the Board Fawzi Al-Huneif signed on behalf of the Arab Fund.
