Araghchi Departs to Geneva for the Second Round of Talks with the United States

Khaberni - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi departed on Sunday to Switzerland for the second round of talks with the United States, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

The ministry stated in a release that Araghchi "left Tehran for Geneva on Sunday evening at the head of a diplomatic and technical delegation to conduct the second round of nuclear talks and to hold a series of diplomatic consultations," clarifying that these "indirect" talks will be held on Tuesday mediated by Oman.

During his visit to Geneva, Araghchi is expected to hold talks with his Swiss and Omani counterparts, in addition to meeting with Rafael Grossi, the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and other international officials, according to the foreign ministry statement.

Tehran and Washington resumed their negotiations in Muscat on February 6, after months of collapsed previous talks following Israel's war on Iran last June, which lasted 12 days.

The latest talks come amid Washington's threats of military action against Tehran and its deployment of an aircraft carrier and its military group in the region following a brutal crackdown on anti-government protests in Iran last month.

Araghchi led the Iranian negotiating team in Muscat where he conducted indirect talks with the American delegation headed by the envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump.
