Food and Drug Administration We do not announce all regulatory campaigns to preserve the reputation of the Jordanian economy

Khaberni - The General Director of the Food and Drug Administration, Rana Obeidat, said on Sunday that the organization continues its regulatory campaigns on food institutions around the clock, emphasizing that the goal is to quietly control violations to maintain the economic image of Jordan.

Obeidat explained during her talk on the program "Voice of the Kingdom" that the market surveillance is comprehensive and continuous 24 hours a day, and that the campaigns "are not all announced" usually to preserve the reputation of the national economy, to ensure that both tourists and citizens trust in the quality of the food products without affecting Jordan's economic image.

She added that the control of non-compliant products is done quietly, noting that 73,000 liters of adulterated olive oil were seized and destroyed at the Food and Drug Administration without any announcement, and that some announcements are only issued to inform the citizens and enable them to inspect the products for free before purchasing them.

Regarding last year's statistics, she referred to the agency's staff conducting approximately 61,905 field visits, issuing 30,121 warnings, transferring 622 cases to the public prosecutor, suspending 2,564 institutions, and closing 403 establishments.

Obeidat clarified that the movement of inspectors in the field is routine and surveying, in addition to following up on the hot complaint line, confirming that the control teams move according to the seriousness of the violation, and that it is not seasonal but part of an ongoing daily work to ensure food safety and consumer protection.
