Khaberni - The U.S. Secretary of State and the President's National Security Advisor Marco Rubio expressed his optimism about the progress of the negotiations regarding Greenland, confirming that the process is "moving well".
Rubio's statements came during a joint press conference in Bratislava with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, in response to a question about his meeting with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, and the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Rubio said: "The process is going well. We are in communication with them, and I have a positive and optimistic feeling that we are on a good path."
The U.S. administration announced on January 31 the start of negotiations concerning the future status of Greenland, expressing hope for reaching an agreement that serves the interests of both the United States and Europe, and noting progress on a number of points.
This comes amid previous statements by U.S. President Donald Trump affirming the importance of Greenland joining the United States, where he had previously proposed the idea of buying the island, and expressed in March 2025 his confidence in the possibility of annexing it.
