Dar AlIfta Warns Mistakes Done by the Fasting Person Unaware During Ramadan

Khaberni - The Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta alerts to four wrong behaviors in Ramadan that may deprive the fasting person of complete reward and virtue.

The Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta confirmed that the month of Ramadan, which Allah the Almighty has distinguished with the duty of fasting, is a month of worship, work, patience, and perseverance. However, some unregulated concepts and prevalent behaviors may empty these meanings of their content, which necessitated the guidance to the fasting individuals to correct their path during the holy month.

In a statement published by the institution on its official Facebook page, it warned against four common practices some people engage in, noting that these practices affect the Muslim's accumulation of more rewards and virtues during Ramadan.

The foremost of these mistakes is treating the month of Ramadan as any other month, without the spiritual or religious preparation that befits its status and specificity in Islamic law.

It also alerted to the mistake of turning Ramadan into a season for expanding the preparation of various types of food and drinks and excelling in them, which strays from the fundamental purpose of fasting based on refinement and discipline.

Among the observations was also ignorance of the rulings related to fasting, whether it concerns its validity, its invalidators, or its exemptions, which may lead some to unintentionally violate religious regulations.

The fourth mistake is being excessively preoccupied with preparations for Eid al-Fitr at the expense of the days of the blessed month, which leads to wasting its time on matters that do not reflect its true nature as an opportunity for worship and drawing closer to Allah.

Dar Al-Ifta emphasized the importance of making the most of Ramadan in acts of obedience and being careful to correct concepts associated with it, so that the fasting person may perform their worship in the most complete manner, away from practices that may diminish its reward.
