Khaberni - The Pyramid Felony Appeals Court in Egypt ruled today, Sunday, to acquit blogger Nurhan Hafzi, after accepting her appeal against the two-year imprisonment sentence in her drug use accusation.
The Pyramid Felony Court in Egypt had previously sentenced the accused Nurhan Hafzi to two years in prison, with a bail payment of 10,000 Egyptian pounds, on charges of drug use.
The details of the incident go back to the receipt of a notification by Major General Mohamed Magdy Abu Shamila, the Giza Security Director, from Major General Hany Shaarawy, the Deputy Director of the General Department for Investigations, stating that the security forces managed to arrest the TikToker Nurhan Hafzi, accused of posting video clips described as indecent and promoting debauchery, in addition to possessing the drug methamphetamine within the jurisdiction of Giza governorate.
After legalizing the procedures, the accused residing within the jurisdiction of the Pyramids Police Department in Giza governorate was arrested with a quantity of the drug methamphetamine.
Upon confrontation, she confessed to possessing the drug with the intention to use it, and she also admitted to posting the mentioned video clips on her social media pages aiming to increase viewership ratings and achieve financial profits.
In a related context, the court decided to postpone the appeal of blogger Um Mecca against her six-month imprisonment sentence to the session of April 21st, pending her personal attendance.
The trial of the defendants in the case of the swimmer Youssef was also postponed to the session of February 26th, with their detention continued until the case is examined.
