Study Cheese can be your shield against gallstones

Khaberni - A recent study revealed that regular consumption of cheese may significantly reduce the risk of developing gallstones, a painful condition that occurs due to the accumulation of cholesterol in the gallbladder and bile.

The results, according to "The Daily Mail," indicated that individuals who eat cheese at least once daily were more than 26% less likely to develop gallstones, whereas eating cheese as a snack once a week could reduce the risk by 13% compared to those who do not consume it at all.

The researchers attribute this protection partly to the calcium found in cheese, which may help the gallbladder to empty regularly, preventing the accumulation of cholesterol and the formation of stones.

Cheese consumption may also increase levels of "good" cholesterol HDL-C, which helps the body transport cholesterol safely and reduces the amount that is secreted into the bile.

Gallstones can cause severe pain if the stones block the bile ducts. The risks are higher for people undergoing rapid weight loss or those who consume refined carbohydrates frequently, and individuals with type two diabetes have a higher likelihood of developing this condition.

According to the study results:

Eating cheese once a week reduces the risk by 13%.
Eating it two to four times a week reduces the risk by 20%.
Eating cheese daily provides the greatest benefit, with a risk reduction of 26.3%.
