Khaberni - The Higher Council for Traffic Safety held a meeting this morning, chaired by the Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, and attended by the Minister of Transport, Dr. Nidal Qatamin, the Director of Public Security, Dr. Obaidullah Al-Maaytah, and the council members.
The council reviewed the achievements accomplished in 2025, as part of the operational plan for the national traffic safety strategy (2025-2026), which included the implementation of 50 projects and 28 programs and activities.
Further, the council's achievements included the implementation of recommendations related to traffic improvements at black spots, successfully executing 134 out of 159 locations, with a completion rate of 84.3%. Necessary funds have been allocated for completing recommendations related to dangerous location projects, numbering 25, which are currently underway.
In the same context, traffic accident indicators for 2025 have shown a set of positive outcomes, compared to the indicators of 2024.
Deaths from traffic accidents decreased by 6.81%, and accidents involving motorbikes decreased by 30.8%.
Injuries from roadway accidents decreased by 6.75%, and injuries among individuals under the age of eighteen decreased by 8.1%.
The council also discussed the results of traffic awareness programs and law enforcement, and their positive impact on traffic behaviors, which reflected through a notable decrease in violations that endanger the lives of road users and increase traffic congestion.
