Khaberni - Dr. Andrei Kuznetsov, a physical therapy specialist, points out that there are bad habits that affect joint health and offers tips for preventing joint problems after the age of forty.
According to the doctor, excess weight remains the main enemy of the joints, as every extra kilogram increases the load, especially on the legs.

A sedentary lifestyle and sitting for long periods are equally dangerous because the joints "feed" during movement, and without physical activity, the cartilage deteriorates and muscles weaken. Excessive exercise without proper technique, in addition to the burdens of daily life, can also cause joint damage.

The specialist emphasizes the importance of not ignoring pain, joint crackling, or morning stiffness, as all these are signs that require consulting a doctor. An unbalanced diet, dehydration, and inappropriate footwear also negatively affect joint health.

As preventive measures, the doctor recommends engaging in moderate and pain-free physical activity, such as swimming, Nordic walking, cycling, and Pilates exercises, alongside muscle strengthening and flexibility exercises. He also advises controlling weight, drinking adequate amounts of water, and following a diet rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids.
