Khaberni - Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Italian Enzo Maresca, former Chelsea manager, emerges as the "most likely candidate" to take over the technical leadership of Manchester City, succeeding Spaniard Pep Guardiola.
Despite Guardiola's contract with "the Citizens" continuing until the summer of 2027, and no final decision regarding his departure, the club's management has already begun outlining the next era.
In a post on his official account on the platform "X", Romano settled the debate about the Italian coach's future, saying: "Some reports have linked Maresca to Tottenham, but my sources confirm completely different information," clearly indicating he is the first choice within the corridors of the Etihad Stadium.
Maresca's stock has risen significantly lately thanks to his high tactical philosophy and familiarity with the workings inside Manchester City, where he previously worked as an assistant to Guardiola in 2022 and 2023.
Clubs have gained more confidence in him following his historic success with Chelsea in the summer of 2025, when he led the "Blues" to win the FIFA Club World Cup title after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
Tudor as the New Tottenham Coach
Tottenham's defeat against Newcastle United with a score of 2-1 last Tuesday was "the last straw"; subsequent to this, the management made a decision to dismiss coach Thomas Frank on the following Wednesday.
The dismissal came after a series of negative results, where the period of no victories extended to eight consecutive matches, achieving only one victory in the last 11 Premier League matches.
The Croatian Igor Tudor, former Juventus coach, will take over as interim coach until the end of the season, and Romano said: "Tudor signed a five-month contract with no option for extension. He fully understands the situation; Tottenham is looking for a short-term solution before settling on a permanent coach next summer."
Two Prominent Candidates
While Tudor leads the team temporarily, Tottenham's administration has limited its options for the new season to two prominent names:
- Mauricio Pochettino: current coach of the US national team.
- Roberto De Zerbi: former Marseille coach.
